§ FAQ

Questions we hear about the industries we serve.

What industries does KDM specialize in?

KDM works with four industries: owner-operator truckers, service businesses, real estate investors, and freelancers and solopreneurs. For each one, the firm knows the forms, the deadlines, the IRS notices, and the S-Corp math.

Does KDM handle taxes for owner-operator truckers?

Yes. For owner-operator truckers, KDM covers per-diem tracking, quarterly IFTA, Form 2290 HVUT, and the S-Corp math at the owner-operator scale. It is one of the four industries the firm knows cold.

What does KDM offer service businesses like consulting firms and agencies?

Service businesses are the S-Corp niche KDM knows best, including consulting, agencies, and professional services. The firm handles reasonable compensation, K-1s, Section 199A QBI, and multi-state sales tax.

When should a freelancer or solopreneur switch from Schedule C to an S-Corp?

KDM files freelancers and solopreneurs on Schedule C today and moves to an S-Corp when the math says yes. It generally looks at the S-election once net self-employment income clears about $60K, alongside quarterly estimates and Section 199A QBI.

Do real estate investors always need an S-Corp at KDM?

No. KDM does Schedule E right and uses an S-Corp only where it actually helps. For real estate investors the firm also works with REP status, cost segregation, Section 1031, and the short-term rental loophole.
